A Bermudaful Saturday Morning

It was supposed to be a yucky day, but is starting out with plenty of sunshine and warmth.  Let's hope it stays this way!

Quite a bit of progress with the renovations, yesterday, but still a lot to do.  The outside walls to the new stairs are now at roof height and I imagine they'll begin constructing the roof next week - depending on the weather.  The forecast isn't very good, unfortunately, but fingers are crossed.

A very large window-well had to be dug in the back yard in order to provide daylight to the "dungeon" area of the house.  Yesterday, the outside wall and window openings were plastered and the windows can be installed as soon as they arrive on the island.  The call is for "Buy Bermuda" but you can't even get 3 standard sized windows in stock when you want them!

The other job that was done yesterday was to take the driveway down to a lower level and grade it off to ensure there will be no flooding.
The driveway was lowered about 16 inches at the highest level

Here's a picture of the entire house at the end of yesterday.  On the right, you'll see the guys looking into the garage.  That will become a kitchen and a new room will be constructed to the right of the garage and become a bedroom with master bath, etc.  When the project is done, there will be 4 rooms below ground level, so this will be a HUGE house.  Also, the area where the truck is parked will be dug out more and there will be a car parking spot for at least 2 cars.

One fellow is working today in the "Dungeon" and is building the framework for the walls to be constructed.  So, not as much noise as usual around here at the moment.  I'll continue to provide more pictures of the renovations so everyone can get the full picture.

  1. Looking good! Are you having the entire house re-washed when complete so all the new construction matches the rest of the place?

    1. We're hoping there will be some money left over in the budget to paint the roof and the rest of the house after everything is done. Perhaps I should have a few Tag Days around the island and try to collect enough funds to pay for it all!
