The Great Wall of Second Avenue

It was a very productive day and, by the end of the afternoon, the "Trash Condo" area had been widened and the main wall construction was completed.

It was agreed that the "Trash Condo" area looked too small and we decided to expand it by an extra two feet.  Luckily, we discovered it right away and it wasn't a major problem to correct it.

Before I add the following pictures, just remember we have 2 Tony's working here now.  See if you can follow along and not get lost - there might be a test at the end of this blog entry!

Tony jackhammers the previous stone pillar
Over it goes
Tony jackhammers the remaining area
Tony dumps a load of concrete to form the additional base
Tony spreads out the concrete

Are you still with me?  Okay, just don't blink!

Chris delivers another load of concrete
Tony smooths out the concrete and keeps it level
The additional concrete base is now completed

The rest of the day was spent building up the wall height and filling all open block cells with a loose mixture of concrete.  The new wall will be very solid and should last at least another hundred years!

Chris pours the loose concrete mixture to strengthen the next rows of block
Tony starts on the final row of block
Tony fills the final row of block with the loose concrete mixture
The new main wall is now built

At the moment, the plan is for the three guys to return on Monday to continue building the "Trash Condo" and add an additional row of block to the smaller wall on the opposite side.  Once all of this is done, the new walls just need to be plastered and the construction work will be completed.
