Fast Friday

Today was busy and seemed to go by very quickly.  We woke to thunder, lightning and occasional showers.  But, by the time work began, all of that had cleared out and it turned into a pleasant day, with mostly cloudy skies and a light breeze.

While three of the guys worked all day in the "dungeon," Johnny was outside in what will be the master bedroom/bath, laying out the design for the bathroom.  He began by marking the outer perimeter of the complete room area with stakes and rope.  This allowed him to determine where the walls will be located.  Then, he was able to measure the dimensions of the tub, toilet and vanity for the bathroom and "draw pictures" of the items with spray paint.  He eventually was able to put all the required PVC pipes together and in place, ready for the concrete floor to be poured at a later date.

Chris, Luis and Tony got a lot done in the "dungeon" today.  The formwork on the lower steps was concreted and plastering was completed on the back wall of the radio room, as well as the doorways to my office and Jason's new "Man Cave" - my previous radio room.

The day ended at the usual time today and the guys got things cleaned up and put away for the weekend.

Monday should be interesting.  The windows are supposed to be on the island and the window-well grating should be available for installation.  The guys will be working on the new hospital project again tomorrow, so no further reports until Monday night.  Enjoy the weekend!

  1. hmmm, no screwing up on the pipes eh? Once that concrete goes down your pretty much done. Although I understand why Bermuda needs so much concrete it would sure scare the hell out of me if I ever needed to fix something or renovate. Drywall and wood is so much cheaper and easier to work with. But sure wouldn't last in the islands weather. Looking good bud!

  2. I'm sure the pipes will be re-checked again on Monday and then again just before the concrete is poured!

  4. Good that you are doing this blog Glen. You should print all and put in an album for reference purposes down the road - never know when you'll be renovating again (remember we did it twice after the original house was built) and even though it is on the web, someone coming along behind you may not know where to look :)
