Fine weather Friday

After yesterday's chilly weather, it was back to shorts and short sleeves today.  However, it's almost 9pm and getting cooler.

The day began with 3 of the 4 guys, then Johnny brought some supplies in the truck to prepare for the beginning of next week.  Before the morning was out, only Luis remained to do the jack hammering in the garage, while the others went back to the hospital project.  Everyone will be on that project, tomorrow, so it will be quiet around here over the weekend.

Before everyone arrived this morning, I went down into the "dungeon" and took a picture of the new hot water heater.  The floor looked fine until yesterday morning, but there's now a stain, thanks to the old heater leaking during the night before.

I had to wait until some staging was taken away to get a decent shot of the steps, which were plastered yesterday.

The steps all nicely plastered

Here's a picture showing all the lights in the "dungeon."  Unfortunately, the camera really doesn't capture the true effect of how bright it is in there now.

Let there be light!

Johnny brought a load of lumber and slate in preparation for the construction of the roof on the new stairs.  I've been anxiously awaiting this part of the project to begin, so it will be good to see the roof construction get going on Monday, weather permitting.

While the lumber and slate were being unloaded, Chris and Tony were building formwork at the top of the "dungeon" steps.  The current opening is quite wide and is being reduced to accommodate a new laundry room.

The jack hammering soon began again in the garage and continued throughout the afternoon. I decided to try my hand at creating a video of the process and, after a few attempts, finally got it right.  By the end of the day, half of the garage floor had been jack hammered.

I wanted to include the video of Luis jack hammering, but can't figure out how to insert it into my post.  I see how I can do it in a separate post, but I'd like to have the option to insert video footage anywhere within any post.  Oh well..... maybe tomorrow!

****  UPDATE ****  -  Just spent 50 minutes with my mate, Scott, who helped me get the video working.  Thanks, Scott!
